Once upon a time in a boring office …
I was just an in-house design and illustrator for the longest time, but marching to the beat of another person's drum wasn't really my style. My daydreams of setting up my own studio and creating my own artwork that would appeal to my tribe were too alluring.
I've been illustrating for 14 years now, mainly as a children illustrator for in-house design studios for big clients like Sainsbury's, Tesco, ASDA, Target and Walmart.
I love creating characters that feel real and fun to interact with. I love making people smile and laugh through my illustrations and hope that they do the same when they look at them. My style is bold and colourful—I like to use lots of different textures and patterns in my work. My characters tend to be quirky but fun!
I'm also a serial entrepreneur with a range of businesses running alongside my illustration work including an online art shop called Sam Chapman Draws where you can buy original artworks, prints and stationery items made by myself for sale around the world.
My goal is to continue working on projects that challenge me creatively whilst providing me with enough time and space to enjoy spending time with my family at home too!
